I got the MSDS sheet for a calcium product and was wondering if it is suitable for aquarium use as the Calcium portion of 2 part? Here's what it contains:

Calcium Chloride 94-97%
Potassium Chloride 2.5%
Water 0-2%
Sodium Chloride 1.5%

Can I use this in my Reef tank?

I do not know if it is adequately pure, but it may be OK. The concerns are ammonia and things like heavy metals (copper and such).

I discuss and measure purity here:

Thanks Randy. The product is a pool calcium additive manufactured by Dow Chemical. I haven't purchased it yet, I'm doing my homework on it first. Is there any more info on the MSDS sheet that would be useful in determining it's safety in a reef tank?

No, testing it for safety requires a fair amount of money for a lab.
