Hi all,

Fortunately my boss is a reefer (actually found my job through our reef club forum), and so I have a 24g JBJ NanoCube at work.

However, its sitting on my desk and... well... my desk isn't doing real well. :) So instead of paying $140 for a stand, I found a local reefer who had a 30g Oceanic cube up for sale for $80. Perfect! This way I could do a sump, too. Good stuff.

So I'm building this at home to get ready to transfer everything out of my 24g at work into this tank. This is hopefully going to happen on Monday.

Regardless, here are a few progress pics. Just got it drilled and plumbed today. I'm excited!

Here's after painting the back (had to do some blue sputters... only on the back, though... can't see it on the inside of the tank):

Filling it up for a leak test:

The plumbing. Simple but effective.

The overflow is from Glass Holes (great guys to deal with and great products at awesome prices, too!). The return is only 1/2" right now (only have an Eheim 1048 on it... soon will have a 1060), but I'll be putting in 3/4". I just wanted to see if my 1/2" bulkheads would work on a 3/4" hole saw, and they do. :D

My plans include an MP10, custom sump, 5.5g dedicated refugium, and a 250w MH pendant with DIY Cree Royal Blue actinic supplementation. :) I think this tank may have to hold me over until my wife and I are able to get a house, too, as I'm probably going to be taking my tank at home down.

Anyway, thanks for looking. Hopefully this goes well!

looks good. you are a brave man drilling the glass an extra time to see if the smaller bulkhead would fit.

looks great! I'm loving the other tank in the background also.

Thanks Bart! I actually only drilled it twice (once for each bulkhead... I was testing to see if a 1/2" bulkhead would work with a 1.5" holesaw, which is intended for 3/4" bulkheads, and it did :) ). Its really not a big deal if you do it right. :) I did both of these holes with very little chipping in only about 30 minutes. They turned out great!

Thanks, Rosengrant! The tank in the back ground is riddled with algae unfortunately, so it will soon be coming down before we move. :)

good luck! Are you going to add more live rock when you transfer everything?

Yep, I'll be adding more rock, Blake. And you will be, too, I think. ;)

Nice, but will the sump handle a power outage?

Yep... why wouldn't it?

That can be easily adjusted by where the siphon break is in my return plumbing. :)
