Tank in September

Tank as of yesterday
http://i43.*******.com/2rvy06d.jpg

Tank is a ~210g system with a 5' x 2' x 2' 150g DT and a roughly 60 gallon sump. All parameters are under control, the tank has an octopus 300 skimmer and a aqua-c 120 protein skimmer. It has 120ish pounds of mature live rock and an established fuge. Lighting is 2 x 250w 10k halides, a 20k 150 watt halide, a HO actinic for sunrise and sunset, and some actinic moonlight LEDs. Water flow is controlled by a vortech MP40 set on long pulse

Well I have an opportunity to get a free yellow tang that has outgrown a 30g nano. It's about 3 inches long. I'm just worried how it'll get along with my current stock:

Hippo Tang 6"
Kole Tang 5"
Copperband Butterfly 5"
Coral Beauty Angel 4"
Cleaner Wrasse (Going 6 months, fat as a pig)
4 Lyretail Anthias (2 pairs)
3 blue chromis
3 green chromis
clown w/ RBTA
firefish
striped dartfish
spotted mandarin

The tangs do have the rare spout, but they are very playful and peaceful together. Would a yellow tang be a good addition?

Well my brother in law showed up with the tang. I did an hour drip acclimation. Right away, the kole has really not taken well to the new addition. I took a video of the behavior, do you think this type of aggression will pass or should I just lose the tang right now...?

I apologize for the cell phone shots, you can at least make out the yellow and brown blobs -_-

Turn your lights out, ..if you can cover the tank with sheets or something to block the light, and also if you can stick a mirror up against the glass so the kole will fight his relection...these tricks usually will reduce the agression and the blacked out tank will give the new yellow a chance to find a hole of saftey while the kole is sleeping in the dark or while the kole is fighting his reflection in the mirror

no garentee though as each fish is diffrent

My yellow tang dosent get along with any other tangs, he is just a bully. But my situation is reversed the yellow tang was already well established. You can always try it but have a back up plan! lol Good Luck hope everything works out.

OOps didn't see your other post. You can try feeding, put some seaweed in there to take their attention away from the new addition. Might work for you didn't help at all with me, my tang just kept chasing the other one around and nipping at his fins until i felt so bad that i pulled him out.

It might be fine - it seems there are lots of hidey holes for the yellow to escape too.

Good luck

The bullying has subsided at least a little bit now that sunset actinics are on. Hopefully they'll get along as time progresses. Im just worried because of how tiny the yellow tang is. My Kole is at least double the size. Im suprised the hippo tang hasn't shown any aggression. She always seemed to be the boss of the tank

Good news, after a night to settle in, the tangs seem to be getting along. The Kole is even sharing the clip. The yellow tang suffered a couple nasty fin nips from the tang as well. Will that grow back...?

Yes, that kind of fin damage should recover quickly.
