If your doing a reef tank, skip the canister filter. Use live rock, live sand and a good protien skimmer with lots of water movement for your filtration. The only "filters" I ever suggest are carbon and GFO rectors and algae growing fuge.

Plenty of algea in the tank. 50 lbs of livesand, 64 lbs of rock. Trying to battle algea rite now. Hoping filters and phos bags will help.

As stated above, you'd probably be better off with a GFO (phosban) reactor. A canister filter may add to your problems if it's not cleaned often. I use only a skimmer and live rock for filtration, and I run GFO when I need it.

Bulk Reef Supply has good reactors, and good prices on GFO. You'll also need a small pump to supply the reactor.
