Does anyone have a picture of what a baterial bloom looks like when ODing a carbin source?

They can take on different appearances, form milky whitish tank water (not as white as a limewater overdose, however), or it can just be a lot of white stuff growing visible in the tank.

Neither is necessarily a sign of a problem, as the bacteria must grow somewhere, but since it is unsightly, you may want to change what you are doing.

Can this grow in the sump as well?

You can get bacterial growth and/or blooms in your sump. You can also get a milky color (precipitation) in your sump from adding too much at one time of high pH alk supplement, like sodium carbonate or kalk water or adding calcium supplement and alk supplement too close together.

Mine grows out of site somewhere, on GAC, in piping, etc. I've never seen it grow in my display tank.
