Monthly upkeep for a 40g reef

I was thinking of starting a 40g reef with a 40g sump. I would use t5 lighting. I was wondering what you thought the monthly cost would be to keep a tank this size. Thanks

I would say 40 if your frugal and 60 if not. That doesnt include electricity.

a lot of factors here. what kind of equipment? what do you plan to stock it with? i run 6t5's over my 40breeder, aqua c protein skimmer, 2xtunze6025's and 2x100watt heater. i change 25%of my water every ten days to keep it nice and clean for my sps. i dont spend much on food because i feed only once a day and dont feed my corals directly. i dont add anything, but lots of folks spend money on supplements. i'd say upkeep of my 40 is about 50 bucks a month all said and done. depends on how much my heaters have to run. in the winter it's about fifteen bucks more a month because my place gets so cold.
