im building a kalk reacor it will be very simmilar to the geo reactor.......my problem is the maxi jet pump (made in italy ) has metric input and output......i dont to play around with tubing and clamps and try to make something that might leak on me so i was just thinking of using a differnt pump to to the strring....all the pipeing will be 1/2'' does anyone out uses a kalk with a diffrent pump? or could recomend one that would work well for this project?

sorry, I don't have an answer to your question, but I always thought mj pumps use 1/2" I.D. for output and 3/4" for input connection, I have even seen the output connected directly to a 1/2" John Guest quick connect connector.

But just a thought, I once planned on making my own diy kalk reactor, but after figuring out the cost, I ended up just getting a stirrer. a stirrer is better than powerhead mixed reactor as there is no waiting time for the mixture to settle and no pump to maintain, it stirs 24/7 and the liquid dosed is always a clear solution. A new one goes for $169.

The newer maxijets (the green ones) have threaded pvc outlets that fit US sizes.

I have used a peristaltic pump to drip kalk overnight. Worked great. Right now I have my kalk reactor inline with my Tunze osmolator ATO. I had to install a check valve to prevent back syphoning and a ball valve to throttle back the output of the Tunze pump though.

I misread your question. Mine has a maxi jet with hoses and clamps.

I used an Eheim 1250 on my kalk reactor. A poor choice due to the $50 replacement cost of the impeller.

Eheim is like that. Even their replacement O-Rings (on things like canister filters) run $25.
