I've had this wrasse for at least 4 years and can't remember what kind it is.

The reason for this thread is to ask why would it start killing snails all of a sudden? Within a month it has eaten 20 or more various snails, but leaves crabs and all others alone. Nothing has changed since I first got it except for its size in the same 56 gallon tank. Has it outgrown it?

It's a Melanarus. I've had one for 6 - 8 months that's eaten snails from day one. It's a fun game of cat and mouse any time I need to add new snails to the tank, especially nassarius - they seem to be his favorite. I have a fend him off with a turkey baster until they can make there way down into the sand bed. :)
