I recently got an eel that came from a tank with 2 very sick fish in it. I'm pretty sure they had a bad case of ich. The eel is doing great in QT but I was wondering whether or not I should put it through hypo. I heard they are pretty ich resistant but they can still carry parasites on them. Would I be OK to give him a freshwater dip and put him in DT or what should I do?

QT the eel as well, while they are resistant to just about everything (including being out of the tank on the floor for a few hours), they still carry the parasite. Cupramine can be used safely with them, just be sure not to overdose.

I would treat him, better safe then sorry.

is it possible to treat with anything other than copper? the problem is that i'm not sure what the fish may have had. one was a dogface and it had ich for sure, and the other was a humu humu and I'm not sure what the disease was but it didnt look very good.
