View Full Version : Paranoid noob question about flow

I recently rehomed my seahorses and started adding more flow to my tank. It's a 56gal "column" that currently has an Eheim 1250 return and two Koralia PH for flow - a nano and an evo 1050. I want to change the nano to the evo 750 sometime soon, but here's my concern: The way I have it set up now, there is random, gentle flow over my zoas. I was playing with the PH and switched them to see what would happen. There was a dramatic increase in flow over the zoas - not direct, but it seemed that way even the the 1050 wasn't pointed directly at them - and they were not happy at all.

So, here's my question, is a large increase in flow something they will get used to or will it be too stressful?

Zoa/palys like good water movement but not directly battering them. even with a fish slightly touching a polyp will cause them to close temporarily.

Btw- I'm running 2 MP10s, 2 Hydory #2's in my 37 cube at full bore. polyps are all happy.

+1.

I also tend to notice, with more flow, the skirts get longer, and the zoas grow in a more compact manner... just an observation though. may have nothing to do with flow actually... :/

OK, I'll go ahead and get the 750 and see what happens.

Thanks a lot guys!
