I have a 20 gallon nano that went south due to a home disaster. Lots of algae, cyano and green. I have a 75 gallon that has been cycling for 5-6 weeks now and have added my first frags to it.

Question- Can I add the hermits from my "tank gone bad" that has hermits that have "bad" algae on them? Or should I just purchase some new ones.

Thanx all!!

Well cyano and green hair algae is fairly easy to get rid of so I guess you should be fine. To be on the safe side, I'd just get new ones.

just scrub the algae off their shells and you should be fine. IMO, getting new ones wont help, because the algae would bust end up being introduced to the tank another way.

Give them new shells, they are always looking for an upgrade.

+1. or scrub with a tooth brush. both those nuisance organisms will be in your tank anyway so I wouldn't be super concerned.

Have you given up on the nano tank? What went south on the nano? Before getting too far into a new tank, maybe we can help figure out what went wrong with the nano so it's not repeated with the 75g?

I make lots of mistakes with my tank, and this site is a great resource to fix most of them but more importantly avoid the mistakes in the first place.
