Hi
I am about to buy this used for $45 and change the pink light to SlimPaq Actinic T5HO bulb 48".
Will the setup work for my s/w tank? Or is the WHOLE light fixture only made for a f/w tank? I think its only the one light (pink vs actenic) that differs.
Will it get corroded by saltw? Please advice !!
Thanks...:fun2:

what do you want to keep? You could use that light on a 55 if you just wanted to keep zoas and mushrooms. Better off getting the 4 bulb version. It will give you more options of what kinds of corals you could keep. You would probably end up upgrading to a better light soon enough, so save some cash and buy a better light to start. just telling you from experience with upgrading.

get some cheap chinese ballasts from hellolights.com and a reflector and socket at the same place, som old extention cord and build a diy hood/metal halide setup, bam your done! on a 55 id do 2 150 hqi and you can keep anything!

Thanks :)
Well a basic FOWLR with few hardy coral (softies, mushrooms, anthelia, Brown polyps, nuc green etc).

But importantly is the light in first post exclusive for a Freshwater or can I use for s/w if I change pink light to actenic?
When I compare the s/w and f/w versions I only see the pink /actenic difference!

if you really want it, its the bulbs that make it SW, if you put a 10k and an 03 actinic in it it will be fine

The light needs to be used with a glass tank cover. So it won't be exposed to the saltwater. But no it is the same as the saltwater model just with different bulb. I Think you should get a 4 tube light as well.

Hey guys,
Pls help me decide on an actinic to replace the f/w pink light. Need actinic that will go well with the current 10k 54w 48" light I have.

Pls suggest the best all -in-one actinic bulb online good for corals, fish, photosynthetic animals etc ...

Is this good:

ATI blue plus not actinic but blue w/ good PAR. In a two bulb fixture using a crappy actinic t5 may be a waste
