Is this safe in reef tanks? Have no idea what it is, but someone mentioned it to me.

Seems like it would be a good organic carbon source. I've never tried it though.

I think someone looked at it, and decided it wasn't a very good choice for carbon dosing, but I've forgotten why. If you have some time, you might be able to find the thread via the search function. I'll give it a shot in a bit if I can find some time.

if you mean glycerin or glycerol, yes it would act as a carbon source. but it is hard to know whether you will get the good guys or bad guys
