I've been wanting a pair of clowns with an anemone, but will not chance things in my 90 reef. I was thinking it would be cool to get one of those pico all in one tanks using my established water, sand, and rock, and then getting a hosting pair. Is it too small - I will certainly be able to keep up with evap and maintenance.

i wouldn't do that if i were you. i think the anemone would get too big for the tank in general. also i wouldnt put a pair of clowns in my 3g. it just seems like tooo much bioload and not enough room. the anemone would touch all walls of the tank eventually lol. i would say at minimum at least a 10g and some people will say even that is too small.

Three gallons is way too small for a pair imo

Imo, BTA will take up most of the tank, and a pair of clowns is not a good idea for 3 gallons.

I had an RBTA get as big as a diner plate, smallest I would go would be a 20 (tall or long).

i had one baby clown in a 2.5 gallon, and he's much happier now that i moved him into a 10 gallon. i'd say ten is the minimum for a pair + nem....
