i have always loved urchins. it is just such a shame they destroy tanks and are bulldosers.

This type is related to the tuxedo urchin, they are actually very reef safe.

what do you consider reef safe?? there is not a urchin out there that is not a bulldoser. they may not eat the corals and such but they get big and rearange tanks. not too mention they all like to eat your live rock will eating the algea off of them. may not make an impact to most people or they just dont notice it because it happens so slow.

they are very cool inverts for sure, but alot of people dont keep them because of the reasons i have listed. regardless of the species, i do however think the liong spine urchin is one of the few i would trust not to bulldose thru stuff but man do those things get huge!

Fantastic pics.

Nothing is 100% reef safe. For the small risk this one is excellent in a reef and a very unique addition. I've had mine for two years and all it taught me to do was epoxy my frag plugs right away. My rock is pegged together so that one has never been a problem.
