This isn't my fish, but I have a friend who a male clownfish of a pair that has presented with these lesions. The larger female is fine.

The clown is in a 54g and tankmates include a 6-line wrasse, a flame hawk, 2 yellow clown gobies, a longfin sleeper goby, a couple emerald crabs and 1 peppermint shrimp. They have all been together since 2008 without any new additions.

The clown is acting and eating fine.

I know she keeps anemones, but I'm not sure if they are hosting it. They probably are, if the lights are right in this tank, but I forgot to ask and she has a few other tanks the anemone could be in.

I don't know anything about clowns.... I hope someone can help her.

Not positive on this one but my guess would be an injury from something or someone in the tank. I would tell your friend just to keep an eye on things to make sure nothing is getting worse and the fish is still eating.

looks bacterial to me. if so, IME, hard toi treat, save fish. I'd QT and treat with antibiotics.

Looks like an injury to me as well - I don't see the inflammation I'd expect to see if there was serious secondary infection.

The lesion on the lower jaw is unusual - not a spot that another fish is likely to bite. Could there be any new invertebrates that the clown might run into that could give it a sting? That could account for lesions on the jaw like that.

Ever figure out what this was? My male perc has the same thing happening to him. It looks terrible but he seems fine.

I believe it was the female tearing him up, if I remember correctly. He's still alive, unless something happened recently.

OK thanks. My male perc is going through something that looks the same... but it seems to be more than just wounds, but rather, something like an infection. I guess its hospital time for this wee one. I'm putting both the male and female in. Might as well treat both!
