If I were to put a new coral addition in my tank do I need to re-acclimate the whole tank?
If so what's the best method for doing this? Should I only put screen over that portion of the tank? I'm running 1 de 250 watt MH over a 45 gall tall tank

It is best (or easiest) to start the coral off at the bottom of the tank and slowly move it up to the location you eventually want it at. If the coral comes from a tank with similar lighting and at the same depth you want, there is no need to acclimate it.

I have always used screening (( supported by egg crate )), depending on the difference in light I will use 2 or 3 layers, with removing a layer every 5-7 days. Never had any issues with existing corals.

agreed with the above; if it comes from a similar lighting paradigm, there may be no need to acclimate it. However, if you're unsure or know it's going to be getting more light, window screening in layers is your best option for acclimation.
