What size tank? How deep is it?
Generally as long as you have individual reflectors you will be fine, but it depends on the tank.

Is that 20" deep? If so, you will be fine with individually reflected t5s, although you may need 8 of them to span 24".

8X54 watt T5HO, with individual reflectors, or an ICR (individually contoured reflectors) will be more than enough to grow any SPS you want.

I tried both and at the start could only get growth with only T5's, finally got use to MH but T5's i feel are safer plus if you are not overdriving the t5 bulbs they last a lot longer.

If going t-5 alone make sure you have good bulbs and lots of them, personally i would be going with a MH or 2 with t-5 supplementing them.
