So I was reading up on this product called Melafix and it says it is safe to use in reef tanks and won't have any negative effects on inverts. I think my Imperator Angel *may* be showing some signs of Ich....but I would like to treat the entire tank. Is Melafix safe and effective in a reef tank?

Melafix is safe for reef tanks... I have used it several times for bacterial infections in fish. But it is NOT an ich medication. It will have no affect on ich. It is mainly for damaged fins, popeye, skin ulcers, and bacterial infections.

I like to do 50% pimafix and 50% melafix if treating for some bacterial infections.

pimafix and melafix both work for marine tanks? I thought pimafix was freshwater only.

I've used them both at the same time, and do 1/2 the recommended dose for each. I wouldn't use them for anything major but they work well for external bacterial infection, fin rot, some types of cloudy eye, etc...

Melafix just dont work. I had few fishes with bacterial infection and it didnt do anything

or help heal their wounds. Now i dip them in proper antibiotic such as furan-2 or

oxytetracycline
