My peacock, Thumper, passed away some time in the last day. She hasn't been her lively self since completing her molt about two weeks ago -- I suspect something went awry.

Bummer. I'll miss her.

I'll extract the body and take some pictures and measurements this evening.

Regards,
Dan

I had Thumper about three years now or so. She was several inches long (and hence at least a few years old) when I got her. She lived a full, if not particularly energetic, life.

I'm sorry to hear that. It's always hard to lose a pet, I was real down when I lost my rugosa, hell I actually cried when my cuttle died. :( My sympathies... though it is always interesting to get to see them up close. It's pretty much the only time you can handle a mantis.

Memo to file: do not wait a day to remove a dead stomatopod from an aquarium. The smell was... memorable.

In any case, here's Thumper, poor girl:

Her color was indeed muted -- she has been for a while.
