I currently have six generation one AI modules over my 60" tank. This past week I got one of my modules upgraded. Wow, serious difference!

Pictures of the new module. I really like the new cords that they come with, much less fussy.

This is the par in my tank before any upgrades, the whites are at 100%, blues are at 100% (sorry for the quick photoshopping):

Here is the tank after the upgrade, again White/Blue 100%/100% :

This is the tank with the new module set to 30%/30% (the rest are still at 100%):

This is a picture of the par when it was held at around 3-4" below the surface:

Needless to say, I'll be trying to save up my money to upgrade the remaining five modules :fish1:

Just curious, what is the cost difference when upgrading the modules compared to selling the lights and buying the new versions?

My husband deals with that stuff, you'd have to contact AI for that information.

Now, did you wait until all your fish swam under the new light to take those pics, or did they just do that on their own? :)

My fish are extremely photogenic :) It's sometimes hard to even look at the coral in the tank because the big Naso is always front and center wanting attention.

Forgot to mention, I'm currently running the new module on my profilux controller and the older modules on the AI controller so I can separately dim the new one so it doesn't blast my corals!

Better PAR, but I definitely don't like the 100% White/Blue on the new generation. 30% pic looks much better.

Oh no, I'd never run it at 100%. Besides cooking the coral, it is a little too white for me. I just wanted to compare 100% on the old to 100% on the new.

very cool comparison...

my t5 fixture is flaking out and on the fence to bite the bullet and go for the AI plunge...

i need 5 modules so definitely pricey...

how do the corals bob with the new bulbs?

shimmer? anything you dont like?

It's definitely a pricey plunge to take. I've only had the new module on for about 3 days, so I can't confirm any differences for the corals. Since I have it turned down to the 30% range for now, I don't expect any real differences. It's still LED, it just has a lot more power potential. It does have more of a shimmer than T5, but that's never been a really big deal for me. For the old lights, I didn't like how touchy the cords were that plugged them in. The new ones seem to be improved and more stable. I'll keep this updated as I go. I think I might send the next module in for upgrade this week.

AI is planning on offering pucks with different combinations of LED's. Check this out:
