I thought of a thread I read on this forum while in the hardware store today and bought some pully's and rope and clips to hang my fixture. But when I got home I realized the items I purchased would not work like I hoped they would. Does anyone have a description of a diy pully thread or any ideas to help me out? The problem is I have pullys but nothing with a clamp or two way alligator clip sort of thing built into it to grab and hold the rope in place every inch or so. What I wanted to make was a rig that had two ropes or one rope looped in half and just pull one of them and the light fixture goes up and pull the other and the fixture goes back down.

Thanks in advance!

Just to Clarify, my plan was to hang my light fixture from the ceiling in my basement.

I was thinking something like a beaded chain pully similiar to the blinds over windows in your house. . .
