I have access to magnesium sulfate ampoules and I was wondering if I could use these to dose magnesium instead of the powder. Each 1ml contains 100mg = 0.41 mMol /ml of magnesium sulfate.

Would these be any better than using the standard Epsom salt ?

You'd need one big truckload of ampules. To boost 100 gallons of tank water by 100 ppm, you'd need nearly 400 ampules. :D

That said, I'd assume they are very pure (or else, why would one bother to make ampules), but other DIY additives, including USP Epsom salt, as generally adequately pure as best we can tell.
