I just bought a 240 gallon tank... Ive had my 55 up and running for alomst 5 years now but its with all hang on back equipment. I want to get a sump for my 240 n all that. I dont want to drill my tank so I need overflows I imagine. Can anyone guide me through on what I need to do and what I need to get.

Thanks

You could get an exernal HOB overflow but I would trust an internal one more.

Hang on the back overflows can be used. A bigger skimmer will deff be needed. A return pump from the sump back to the DT tank. one good thing is when you decide to break down the 55 you have the sump for the 240. I personally dont trust HOB overflows I have always had mine drilled and will continue to do so. What are you planning on adding to the 240...fish only or mixed reef? which ever way you lean towards will make a big decision in the type of lighting for it. Theres so many variables that come into play on this if you can give more details about wat you want to achieve with the tank will make it alot easier for others to chime i also.

Is it absolutely impossible for your tank to get drilled? With that much water, you could have up to 2400 gph going over the wall of your tank. A failure could cause tons of water on your floor. Not to mention the noise problems. With that said, you could try:

The bigger the better, although I'm not confident in their numbers of GPH, I think it will be less. Can anybody confirm?

its not impossible but id rather not have to drill it. And its going to be used for a shark/stingray growout tank so no expensive reef lighting will be needed for it
