My new tank biocube 29..

its just sand and rocks in it and is still cycling Day -4.

My question: Should I leave light on during the day time while its cycle or can i turn light it off since theres nothing in tank :o ?

Thanks
Jake

I would run your expected photoperiod (example I run mine from 2pm-11pm) even during your cycle. You will go through various algae stages but having a stable photoperiod will help.

Yeah part of cycling the tank is running it the same as you would with fish as without fish to establish feeding cycles as well for your night life that lives in the rock

You don't NEED lights to cycle your tank. Bacteria will develop just fine without it. You may WANT to keep the lights on as you would when the tank is mature, just so you can see. If you have live rock and expect critters to grow out of it, then yes, it's a good idea to keep the lights on part of the time.

I realize this thread is quite old, but trying to dial in my photoperiod with this same lighting.

My tank is only SPS. 150 gallon Oceanic RR tank. 72" X 24 X 29. What's the recommended photoperiod using this unit?

Going beyond recommended, what has been successful for RC members using this unit?
