Can a Banded Coral Shrimp outgrow a tank? I have a 20 Gal mixed reef and I got this Banded Coral Shrimp from a friend who tore down his 90 Gal reef. He has had this guy a while, and I just want to make sure I'm not being irresponsible keeping him in to small of a tank. I've had him ~3 months and hes molted once and seems happy. loves picking through my large green star polyp rock and seems to always be eating bits and pieces of stuff found in the tank.

As you can see hes HUGE. arms are about 3-4 inches wide, body about 2.5" long and its tentacles are about 8-10" when stretched out.

I believe thats a she. (Blue spots=Female) I have one in my 40, hasn't gotten too big. The antennae on mine are about 5-6 inches long, and arm span of about 2-3 inches.

Outgrow a tank, not really IMO. It will start to do some damage as it gets bigger though. You'll start to see certain things disappear.
