Anyone ever use this combo? I am thinking about upgrading the gen-x 4100 on my skimmer and the Bubble Blaster seems to be the best performance driven pump upgrade. Is it plug any play, or will the pump fit right in where the old pump connects? Anyone notice a drastic change?

No one has ever used a BB3000 on a Euroreef?

What is the neck size?

Hmm, not sure of the neck size. I'll have to measure when I get home? Would that affect whether or not its possible to use the bubble blaster pump?

Just wanted to try and revive this thread. Maybe we could discuss other pumps that would be a suitable upgrade on an ER RS-180. I am interested in an upgrade more so than a replacement pump though, which is why I thought the Bubble Blaster would be a good candidate. It seems to be a needle wheel that outperforms the others in its range, but i'm open to hearing other suggestions.

That's not really the information I was after. I was concerned with using the bubble blaster pump on a euroreef skimmer, not about how well an octo 3000 performs.

Well that skimmer has a 8'' tube and is 24'' tall not sure of the neck but seems like the same dimensions as a RS 180.

I was thinking the same. Similar body size, but I think the ER has a neck that is a little smaller. Also, the entry into the body is higher unless you plan on drilling a hole lower, but without a bubble chamber, you would have lots of bubbles exiting the skimmer.

i would ask on the reef specialty club sponsor forum. They are a dealer of these pumps and might provide more insight.

Another point to consider is the stock pump pulled about 32 scfh. The BB3000 is ~ 50 scfh. I think the BB2000 is more like 40.

What did you come up with? I'm considering the same conversion, but it would be nice to get a thumpsup from somebody else that has already done it ;)
