As much as it is my fault for having trust in people and not dipping the frags from last meeting due to rushing somebody has given me red flatworms. I have only recieved frags from a few sources : the frag order (which I'm sure I would have heard if someones frags had redbugs), and from the couple people(4) I got frags from and the raffle (2 frags). Thank God this is isolated to my 40b, if this was in my main tank I don't even want to think about that. People, if you have pests in your tank, please do not pass your frags on to others without opening your mouth (for trade, sale, donations, or raffle) as it is just not right. If others see someone passing on items from an infected (or suspected of being infested) tank please do not be shy on asking or saying something. Again I blame myself for having them but also think it is a horrible thing to pass them on without saying something.
Not only does this hurt my tank but now also hinders me from passing on healthy frags to other members for awhile.

Well, I stopped at Bob's and picked up a yellow coris wrasse, 6-line wrasse, and a blue velvet damsel to take on the flatworms. Thankfully I only had a pair of black and white clowns so there won't be a bioload issue. I'll let you know how they clean up.

Yup. Hate to hear that. Bummer.
Will look forward to knowing how those wrasses work out though. Good luck. :)
This is unfortunate, sorry to hear about this Jeff.
I think in one of our upcoming meetings we can discuss the importance of dipping frags. I am thinking about an August meeting at my place, where I can demonstrate my dipping methods. I could even put a nice thread together if anyone is interested.
Good luck with the wrasses, a six line is one of my mainstays in my tank. They are great fish.

Yup it sucks. If anyone has a dsl camera and would like to take some detailed pics for the thread. My lights are on from 2-10. I will try and take a shot with my pos pas camera but they are so small I don't think it will even take a pic worth showing.

Just read this Jeff -- oh man THAT SUCKS!!!
I remember over a year ago planning on swapping some stuff with another guy up in Clinton, CT. He never said a word about his infestation. When I got home in the specimen cups you could just see all the redbugs coming off the frag plugs. Brutal. I had never seen red bugs before-- thought they were just flecks on the plugs or dark coraline --but when they fell off etc. So glad I never intorduced them to my tank / caught it early. It is really not acceptable if someone knows they have pests to not say something. Sure proper dipping etc should be the standard, but we all know it isnt... trading frags from an infected tank should be told to the person you are trading with.
