Water Change PH

How close does the PH of the new water need to be when compared to the tank water? Does PH matter for water changes?

I don't worry about it anymore; I once buffered with carbonate until my tank didn't need any more alkalinity, not to mention it was pretty easy to throw off the chemical balance of the new mix water. If you are worried about numbers adjust the Ca, Alk, Mg levels to where you want them. pH is a hard number to chase .
