Let me first say, any help is greatly appreciated!! I have had this via aqua 418w (15 Gallon) for years. The tanks dimensions are 16"W x 17 1/2" H. Still has the stock pc bulbs in it, definitely over used by now. I have 120 SPS tank so this one is just for softies and some LPS. I'm at the point where I need to either, and here are the options also open for suggestion,:

-Replace the (2) 18w bulbs
-Buy this fixture 16" Solar PC 2x24w (http://www.catalinaaquarium.com/product_info.php?cPath=71_74&products_id=1193)
-Buy this fixture 15in. Hamilton 2x28w PC (http://www.customaquatic.com/estore/control/product/~product=LT-HMA15B228PC)
-Build a 14x3w LED fixture
-I've looked into the Viper HQI but have heard bad reviews, not sure though
-Use some other halide system that fits within my 16" restriction.

Please, somebody, anybody, help me out!!!

Here is a picture of where the tank sits in the house.

I was thinking that too. I saw a couple threads about it including this guy from P.R. that does some awesome work. I just wasn't sure about the diff. in growth comparing LED to HQI.

I'm not sure of growth rate comparison's but do you really need high growth rate in a 15g tank anyways?

Not necessarily. However, like I said, I would much rather them thrive than just barely survive. I don't want to starve them of light.

Correction: I didn't say that yet. My bad! :)

lol i get what you mean but with Led's you wont starve them of light, i do believe that the PAR's are comparable as well there are enough people here that run them with good results in keeping SPS with them.

The par with Cree leds with optics added is equal to or exceeds MH
