My tank was over ran by red planaria (flatworm) and softcoral polyps (Some kind of dark brown Parazoanthus and Protopalythoa.)

I cooked part of the rocks in a huge fiber glass tank (7 feet diameter) for a few weeks now and all the bad stuff seem to have gone away.

I am in the procees of setting up my old 6 feet tank. (Converting back from fresh water tank to salt water again.)

Is it possible to continue to cook the rocks in the main display of my 6 feet tank? (ie. cover the tank pitch black.)

I need to do this so I can take my current tank apart. It is really an eyesore to see the tank full of planaria and dark brown zoanthus polyps. I want to hold the animals in the fiber tank and setup the existing 10 feet tank with new rock and cook right on the display too before moving the animals back.

I plan to keep my 6 feet for reef and 10 feet as fish only in the future.
