RAS Annual Workshop and Auction

The schedule is as follows:

Friday, June 11th, 2010

12:30pm - Native Fish Collecting trip - Meet at Wake County Commons Bldg. and return by 5:30. Equipment provided, but bring dry clothes, boots/waders, buckets, & dip nets if you have them. Contact John Patterson at jrpatter@hotmail.com, 919-264-4011 to sign up or for further information.
6:30pm - Workshop Registration opens
7:00pm - Brandon Berry – Reef Lighting & Retrofit DIY: Get the Biggest Bang for your Buck
Grace Romano & Carmalee Scarpitti - Frag Demo and Frag Swap
8:00pm - B.J. Staton – How to Build an Acrylic Sump – DIY Demo


Saturday, June 12th, 2010
(there will be frag demos during the day on Saturday, times TBD )
8:30am - Registration opens
9:00am - Joseph Granato, Jr. – Creating Awesome Ponds and Water Gardens
10:00am - Todd Wenzel – Characins...That’s Tetras for you in Rio Linda
11:00am - Scott Arney – All the Corys (Identifying, keeping and breeding the Corydoras catfish)
12:00pm - Lunch (on your own)
1:00pm - Dr. Brian Plankis – Setting up and Maintaining an Economic and Eco-friendly Reef
2:00pm - Ken Davis – The History of Discus in the Hobby
3:00pm - Christian Moscarell – Blackwater Fish
4:00pm - John Patterson – Collecting in the Amazon
5:00pm - Break
6:00pm - Dinner - Speaker - Ray Lucas – Fish, Food, Fun & Friends

Sunday, June 13th, 2010
9:00am – 11:00am Auction Registration Opens – (Sellers and Buyers may register at any time during the auction.)
11:00am – Auction begins. Rules for the auction can be found Here.

All this for $20.00 per person or family
Student rate:$10.00 with a valid student ID
Admission On Sunday Free

New this year! Receive a $5.00 discount off your Workshop registration with the donation of 2 cans of dog food or 3 cans of cat food. All donations will be given to the SPCA of Wake County. Help feed a homeless dog or cat and receive a discount!!!
Volunteer at the workshop only four hours (or 2X 2 hour shifts) and get in FREE!!! Also join us for Saturday's Dinner for Free!!! Your membership needs to be current to take advantage of this offer. If you'd like to sign up for this, please send an email to ltwaddle@yahoo.com. Areas that we need volunteers are: Registration, Auction Front Table; Auction Runners, Auction Checkout, Silent Auction; Autioneer; Refreshments, Speaker Escorts and Floaters (to help wherever needed).

Saturday's dinner is $20.00 per person
Dinner Children Under 12 - $10.00 each

Vendors:

Tables are only $20 - you can set up on Friday night and break down Sunday morning - sales from the vendor tables are not allowed Sunday, we encourage you to put your livestock you have left in the auction. If you donate for an ad in our program you can get your vendor table for free!

Directions to the Workshop location at Wake County Commons:
From the South : On I-440 get off at the Poole Road Exit, exit #15. Turn right off the exit ramp. Turn left onto Carya Drive (you will see the Wake County Office Park sign and a stone wall entrance). Follow Carya drive down to the lower parking lot. The Commons building is the last building on the left.
From the North : On I-440 get off at the Poole Road Exit, exit # 15. Cross the bridge. Turn left onto Carya Drive (you will see the Wake County Office Park sign and a stone wall entrance). Follow Carya drive down to the lower parking lot. The Commons building is the last building on the left.
From Downtown Raleigh : Take New Bern Ave. towards the beltline. Turn right onto Poole Road. Cross over the beltline on Poole Road. Turn left onto Carya Drive (you will see the Wake County Office Park sign and a stone wall entrance). Follow Carya drive down to the lower parking lot. The Commons building is the last building on the left.
