Hi, I have a large leather coral and a small one. For three days now they have being closed. I cheked the water parameters and everything is as follow:
ammonia: 0
nitrite: 0
nitrate: 0.2
ph: day 8.4 night 8.2
phosphate: 0
calcium: 460
And all the other corals seem "happy" everything else is "open".

Any advise would be appreciated.
Thank you

Is there any other corals near them that might be aggravating them? Maybe a crab or something bothering them? Water parameters are barely even important for leathers, they are some of the toughest corals out there, so i doubt that would be the problem. Did you just recently move them to a brighter spot? They can live in very low light, but too bright can make them close up for a while.

how long have you had them in that spot?

I haven't move them from their original spot when they were fully open, and nothing is near them to sting them.

They've been in the same spot for 3 weeks, fully open. It's just the past 3 days they've been closed.

Leathers shut down from time to time to shed a layer of dead tissue, algae, and bacteria. It usually takes a day or 2, but sometimes a little more. During this time the polyps will not emerge and the coral's surface will appear shiny and waxy. As long as you have good circulation, it's not a problem.

Leathers need a lot of flow to help them stay clean, and can even suffocate in there own waxy slime if not provided with enough.
