Hello,

I am new to this hobby (about 4 months) but already progressing from 5 gal. nano to 20 gal. My 20 gal . is a fairly new set-up with just a few zooanthides and I have ordered new lighting. This current light is a 15watt fluorescent and I have ordered a 130w compact fluorescent with actinics. Is there is anything special I should do to acclimate the zoos to the new more powerful lighting or will they just adapt?

[welcome]
it might have a strain on them at the beginning. try not to run the light on the same schedule. cut a couple hours off at the first week and slowly get the lighting schedule back to what you have it at now.

Highly doubtful anything will happen if you just swap them out but it's better to weigh on the side of caution.

You want to go slow at the first time... Try to run it like for two hours and then every week try to add 30min until you get to the time you want...

Thanks for the input, a gradual increase sounds logical to me.

Agreed cut your light schedule by 2-3 for the first week or so. If its just zoas too, you should be fine just putting them on with the same light schedule. theyre pretty hardy corals.
