Has anyone heard of or seen in action, the Hydor FLO Rotating Filter Output Deflector? This item is used by attaching it to the return nossles going into your tank. It uses the water flow to rotate and put out your water flow in different directions making wave patterns in your tank. Well, I have looked into it and it seems like a nice design and from the youtube videos on it, it seems to work great. The only problem is that the rated GPH flow rate on it is maxed at 380 or less.

So, has anyone ever attempted a DIY project like this or does anyone know of a similar product that can be purchased?

"Hydor FLO Rotating Filter Output Deflector"

These things suck. I have used a couple on a rio900 and 1200 and they get jammed way too easy. It was almost everyday that I would have to pop it apart and clean it - not worth the hassle. IMHO

I had one on the output of my Aquapod (switched the stock pump for a MJ-1200) It never got jammed unless snails got behind it and lodged their shells in the rotating piece. Here is a snail that spent 4 hours riding around...

I used one in one of my prop tanks a while back and never had it jam for years. They had two downsides in my opinion: They really couldn't handle much flow. A MJ400 is about tops. Sticking out the end of a MJ these things are just ridicluous looking; close to 6 inches long. There's no way I would stick one in a display.
