Is Black sand ok for an sps tank?

Is Black sand ok for an sps tank? I have heard that the reflection(or lack of) from it will prevent coral growth at the bottom near the sand. I guess a better way to ask this is does white sand really make that big of a different then black sand. I already bought the black before I heard this.

Your better off not using black sand, some have tried but results were not good. If your going to spend the money get a better sand. I would, you don't want to make a time consuming or costly mistake.
