Gave uptrying to get rid of Cyano by syphoning & water changes over the past 6 weeks. I just added Red SLime Remover 6 hours ago but haven't seen any visible change in the cynao. Can anyone tell me what to expect and over what time frame. I have a 125gal reef plus a 25 gal sump with a Oct-x 200 skimmer & moving 800 gph between the two tanks. Jim

I just did the treatment over the weekend ,about 24 hrs after dosing I noticed the cyano starting to go away, after 48 hrs it was gone completely. Problem is even after water change as recommended my skimmer is going crazy, producing a lot of bubbles and overflowing .

It can take your skimmer upwards of a week to get back to normal.

Great product though if you follow the instructions. I wish all reef issues were that easy to deal with.

There is a reason the Cyano is having such a party in your tank. Excess nutrients/PO4. Fix that and the short term fixes become long term ;)

I had issues until I started feeding less and using Chemi-Pure Elite. Haven't seen it for almost a year now and still doing great.

I have my skimmer on mainly to replenish the oxygen but removed the cup plug to avoid overlow problems. The skimmer is going crazy but haven't seen any change in the cyano yet.
Thanks for the inputs. Jim

When I use it it takes about 24 hours. then after 48 I start massive water changes and I change carbon every 18ish hours for a few days.

Also make sure your lights are off the whole time. I always stir the sand a bit to make sure water is mixed into it as well.

It's probably your source water. I got a ro/di unit and my 120's red slime went away... the only time it came back is if my cartridges needed to be replaced or a couple times if my halide bulbs were really old.

There has to be some problem with the water parameters but the water source is thru a RO/DI (filter guys) and only 4 months 'young'. The TDS meter reads '0' on the output and 3 on the input. Being a new tank and having a lot of base rock (prewashed in nitric acid & rinsed) there is probably phosphates although the AI test says it's 0. Preceeding the cyano outbreak I had the typical algae problems.

Your suppose to run carbon after using it to prevent your skimmer going out of control.

Ops, I had turned off the carbon & GFO reactors but just turned them back on. As for the skimmer I cut back on the air intake and the skimmer is doing OK. It's been 36 hours and most of the cyano is no longer visible. I'm getting there. Jim

After 48 hours I still have cyano. My LFS said I shouldn't be running the skimmer so I just stut it down & will make sure the fish aren't running out of oxygen (have 800 gph to/from sump plus 3 Koralia pumps). He said I may have to do a 25% water change and try again.
