Not a big deal. Many salt mixes start that high (500+ ppm)

What salt mix are you using?

My calcium levels have been higher than that, I wouldn't worry too much. If you're dosing Ca, stop and let the level come down naturally. You may want to check your CO3 levels, IIRC if those drop precipitously the level of Ca can shoot up.

The other thing you can do is have a beer to get your chemistry in line ;)

sit back and watch your coral grow?

also if you calc is shooting high check your alk cause it might be going the other direction. But like others said 520 wont do anything bad just dont dose for a few weeks and keep checking with testing.

i never dosed... at first i had it at 480.n then i tested my salt water it was at 1.022 so i brought it up 1.026 n then it went up to 1.029 cuz i 4got to put ro water.. then brought it back down to 1.026 n now my calcium is high.. n the water i use is store brand.. but i just received my box of reef crystal n im ready to mix now...

wat does this mean.....You may want to check your CO3 levels, IIRC if those drop precipitously the level of Ca can shoot up.

Very high calcium can cause the precipitation of calcium and carbonate. This appears as a white fog in the tank (snowstorm!). I wouldn't worry about it.

Your torch is probably not dying because of your calcium levels.

all levels r good. the only thing wrong is the nitrate n its around 40 to 60.. due to how many fishes i have for a 25 gallon tank... just recently it has been dying.. i had it for like 2 months n it was good n now its dying??

I suspect there are enough fish that the water quality is declining over time. That's fairly common. How long has the whole system been running? I'd reduce the feeding: the torch coral likely can't consume Phyto-Plex, anyway.

its been running for a10 months now...

I would check the phosphate level in the tank, and work from there.

How quickly did you raise your salinity. I have done it too quickly and had problems before. I think the raising too high to quickly then lowering it to quickly is the culprit.
