Protecting bulbs and fixture from water splashing?

I have removed the glass tops but now the holders for my T5's are corroded. I want to get great light from my 8 bulb fixture but need glass to protect bulbs and wires to bulbs. I almost ruined my fixture but can fix it with rivets. I have a non brand lighting system with reflectors. What can be used besides glass for maximum light transmission. Thanks

Can you switch to waterproof endcaps? If not, then that glass shield makes a lot of sense and should be put back to avoid further damage.
