Hello,

I'm moving from a reef to a FOWLR. I've hadd some red slime algae buliding up on parts of the sandbed that have lower flow. Is this too much flow for a FOWLR tank or am I ok?

Tank is 8' X 30" X 24"T (300g)

My return pump is a Iwaki 70
I have 2 Mag 8's on each end of the tank.
Just added Evolution 1050 and a Mag 3

Roughly speaking:
Return = 1000ish-1500? (don't remember anymore)
Mag 8's X 2 = 6500
1050 = 1050
Mag 3 = 850

Total GPH in main tank would roughly be 9-10,000, roughly 30 X's. Is this too much for a FOWLR, should I change it up somehow? Thoughts are appreciated. I'm trying to get rid of dead spots and it was too hard with only the 2 pumps.

Thanks much,

It can be hard to say without seeing it in person. 30x is a nice turnover but not as necessary for a fowlr vs a reef (as you suspect). If you're worried about excess flow simply remove one pump from the setup and play around :)
