Bought one a week ago and he's in my reef now but he likes to hide in between my rocks. I use a turkey baster and feed him mysis and he eats it along with flakes but wont come out after a week. I was wondering if these guys will hide for a long time before coming out and swimming w/ the rest of the fish?

There are 2 other angels his size in the tank and one showed aggression toward him when I added him but since he's been hiding the other angel will swim by him and not bother him. I think he's healthy since I see him eating and swimming upside down picking on the rockwork but he wont come out and swim freely. Is this common with this species? Do they hide always or just take a few weeks to come out?

Thanks guys

Hi, I have a trio of multibars in my reef and they are awesome fish. However they can be a little difficult. They are pretty shy at first, but mine now spend the day going in and out of the rocks. My little 1.5" stays pretty close to the rocks all the time. Another problem could be internal infection or parasites. Did you treat the fish?

No I didnt and never have with any of my fish. His tail is a bit beat up. It might be from the aggression during the first two days or maybe its aggression thats still happens here and there that im not seeing. Hopefully it will all work out since im upgrading to a 150g in the next few months.

Anyone else have a Multibarred Angel that did or does the same thing? Trying to figure out if this is just a temporary deal.

Mine has always been pritty brave, its only in a 220ltr tank though with a potters and as of yesterday a golden dwarf as well. My multibar only eats flake though (oh and the corals)

Well, its been a month or so and he's doing great! He continues to be shy but does come out regularly. He also feeds with the others right off the clip. Theres still a little aggression during feeding from my Regal but its not a regular thing so the Multibar just shrugs it off and keeps eating. So far hes one of my fave fish.
