I'm new to this reef stuff, but I. Do read about everything. I never heard of something like this. I have a bubble coral that a hermit crab has embedded himself in. He was in there for 3 days straight so I. Thought he was dead I knocked him out with tongs at least a foot away from the coral I. Came back a half hour later to find him in the same exact spot not moving as usual. What is he doing? Hosting? Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.

He probably isn't doing anything good for the bubble coral. Hermit crabs can destroy their delicate tissue by simply walking on them.

He probably kicks it there until the lights go out, and then he goes out to eat. If the bubble Coral doesn't look angry that he is there, then your good to go.

The hermit isn't actually on the soft tissue he is wedged underneath where you can hardly see him but the coral actually looks better when he is there. Hey if its not broke don't fix it I guess. Thanks for your replies.

OK, that sounds fine then. I used to have a blue legged hermit crab that did the same thing right beside the base of my frogspawn. I think he felt protected from other hermits... they are pretty vicious to each other.
