I installed a BRS float shutoff kit on my 50gpd Coralife RO. It ran fine for two weeks and today I notice a fine mist of water coming from both pre-filter canisters.

I shut off the water and found that both plastic filter enclosures had hairline cracks about 1" long. It was a vertical crack in one and a horizontal crack in the other.

My water pressure going into the RO is 60 psi and the first two pre-filters stay under pressure when the BRS cutoff activates.

Is 60 psi too much pressure for the plastic canisters on RO stages or was the plastic too thin in a spot. Seems odd that two canisters would crack at the same time?

Was there possibly a spike in the water pressure that fractures the canisters?
My main house line has a pressure regulator right above the main cutoff, so you would think that would protect everything downstream.

Before I put two new canisters at risk, I would like to know what caused this problem.

Bump, no experience with RO canister cracks?

they are faulty, ask for replacements. I have never seen the filter bodys fail on ro units. They were probably faulty from the start.
