I think I've come along way since starting saltwater tanks 2 years ago. I kept freshwater tanks for years and the only advice I had going in was from Petco. I've learned LOADS since I started out mostly thanks to lots of reading and Reefcentral. So here are some pics of my jouney into reef tanks.
May 2008 1st setup. NO flourescent lighting, no powerheads, LFS told me that mandarin would eat frozen brine. That's a condy anemone in the shell in the middle. Notice the tiny green sinularia (brown) in the sand to the left.

Novemer 2008 after a lot more learning and reading. Moved up to CF lighting and more rock/flow. Didn't know chili corals were non photo. My green sinularia was the only thing that survived my original attempt.

Starting to learn a little now, coralline algae actually growning.

This is about 1 year after I started and the last pic before I upgraded to a 75.

Most recent. My 1st coral I ever bought is still alive through all my mistakes.

Hope you enjoy...and don't rip me about the tangs:D. I get them in trades and trade them away before they're in there too long.

Love the tank and purple rocks...

I too have learned from my mistakes and youtubing instead of reading about reef tanks and wasted alot of money... from 2.5g picotope to 6gal nano to my current 75g_20g sump+5g fuge.

:) now Im happy with my setup :celeb2: but I am still a noob hahha!

Thank you Nakzter. I do have really thick coraline algae for some reason. It seems to have taken off since I started dosing baking soda to keep my alkalinity up.

Very nice progression ritter. Where did the flame go? Did it nip at anything while it was in there?

Thanks Dave VG. I traded the flame angel for the big frogspawn in the middle of the tank. It nipped at everything really but I don't think it bothered anything except my trachyphyllia. I don't think the flame was killiing it but it was never fully open for very long. The flame would pick at it and it would deflate.

It's been almost 4 years now. I think I'm getting better at this.

I had a mini tank crash about a year ago and lost a bunch of sps. I never figured out what it was but I think it was a mix of too much kalk, too much GFO and too much not keeping parameters stable. I started over with many sps colonies. I managed to save tiny frags of some and bring them back around.
