i have a GBTA that i have had for about 2 weeks. 2-4 times a day it will retract back into the rock for an hour or so and then come back out. it doesn't move from it's location and i have only fed it about 3 times with mysis. is this normal?

Unless something's bothering it (shrimp or fish), chances are that it's still adjusting to your tank conditions.

i agree with robin, but wondered a few things-
are there possible fish that will bother your anemone? I have a male gsm that bugs one anemone so much, I have to keep it away while its ( 'nem) is fed.
how big is it in comparison to fish and tank mates?
and
when it retracts is it expelling anything?

congrats on the new pickup!

i have 2 exreme misbar clowns(one of which is hosted to the GBTA) and a lawnmower blenny..no shrimp or anything. the clowns are tiny(about 1-1.5 inches) and the GBTA is about the size of my fist when it's out. i have tried to spot feed it with mysis but doesn't seem like it take much of anything in...what else should i try?

i noticed yesterday and today when the anemone went in, it would expell some stringy pinkish looking stuff.
