Had a 75 for years. I don't know the weight capacities but mine had two fairly large I-beams running the length of the home. I made sure I centered the tank on a wall that straddled these beams.

Most Modular/mobile homes have better subfloors than regualr homes. I think ours has steel floor joists under it. I know theres I-beams under it.

The good news is if it does go threw the floor you can always sell the completed tank with inhabitants and you'd have enough money to buy another house! :)
lol sry i have no helpful advice at all.... Was just pondering the amount of $ ive already spent, will spend in the future when i came across this thread.
hopefully it works out for your buddy. Best of luck

How is that stronger than a concrete foundation?
My friend just set up a 125 in a mobile home built in 1994. It's only been up for about a week, but so far so good. I told him to check under the floor to verify it's in a good spot, but he just set it up. I'm crossing my fingers for him because I will be the one helping him if it crashes through!

Most mobile homes today have to be set on a concrete footer just like a regular home. So you pick up the best of both worlds a concrete footer for ground support and steel beams for structural support.

I was not aware of that. The only ones I've been too I wouldn't set my beer down in fear it would fall through! Lol.
Aside from the one my buddy just moved into. It was quite nice and still supporting the 125 gal.

I think alot of the older ones were made in less than a day lol. With todays market (not a good comparrison i know) modular homes are built as well if not better than suddivision homes. What I mean by subdivison homes is some guy buys an old farm makes it into a subdivision and in less than 6 months theres 50 homes in it. So the mobile home industry has had to step up the the plate and build higher quality better looking homes. a 30 yr old mobile home would worry me with alot of weight in it without some kind of floor support.

I had an 80 gallon for a couple years. I was young and dumb and didn't even check the floor, I just did it and it was fine. Dumb luck, I guess.

Devilboy, I have a 75 in a 1990 Palm Harbor. I have it set up in a corner room against the wall. Haven't had any problems yet. I have considered a bigger tank but am concerned about the weight.. the house is not set on cement.. from appraisales I've had it appears it's set on some kind of tripods. what is your home set on?
Having a great love for animals (horses, dogs and fish)and privacy this home option fit me the best :) I live in AZ so I have no worries about tornadoes although they have had a few :)

My tank is set against a weight bearing wall. We have 3 large "I" beams that run the length of the home. Yes it is also on a concrete pad. As long as you have the tank running the opposite way as the beams you should be ok. Imagine a "T" with lines of the "T" perpendicular. the "l" of the "T" being the "I" beams running the length of the home. The "-" part of the "T" being my tank. If you have it set up like this you should be ok. I hope this helps

thank you Devilboy for your reply..oops on the age of my house actually it's 1998. Wish I were on a concrete pad.....I did have a stick built house here in AZ and it seems most are set on concrete foundations.. perfect for a tank :)I guess I'll have to check out the structure below to see what is what. Crawling underneath the house I have never done.. yikes, we have snakes and scorpions.... the good thing is the floor hasn't collapsed :) wishing you the best
