Hi,

So I have had a diatom bloom recently and now all this rust colored stuff is beginning to take over my leather coral. Its base is the worst:

What should I do? I tried taking a turkey baster and blowing most of the algae off of its fingers, but it just keeps coming back.

Any recommendations? BTW, is that even algae on its base?

could be algae..try putting it in a higher flow.......maybe try using a soft tooth brush and brush it off....should be ok....

It is another in a long line of nusence algea usally when you see this algea Red slime algea is not far behind.
Your Phosphates are most likly high. A phosphate filter is not a lot of money and go a long way to keep algea problems away. I use 2 on my 150 gal tank.
