So I have had this specific head of Blasto in my tank for probably 4-5 months now. At the same time, my brother got another head (from the same place.) Within months his had created 4-5 more heads, while mine has looked like this:

From the top it looks perfectly normal, but from the side, should it have that umbrella shape, and why is it not sprouting any more heads? Thanks for the help in advance guys!

That first pic kinda looks like it's getting too much flow. Pretty much all of my lps prefer not getting blasted by powerheads and lower lighting. But of course that depends on your lighting too. So many factors could weigh in when it comes to 2 different tanks. I had a blasto that was too high up and it just sat there for months. I moved it lower and it colored up better and started to sprout new heads but I don't know if it was because I started feeding it small bits of mysis every couple of weeks. Something to think about anyways. Have you tried relocating it? And are your water parameters inline?

Could be too much flow or too much light. I have it about mid level in a Biocube 14 with 48 watts of lighting total and a Hydor Koraila Nano powerhead. The Koralia is pointed toward the left wall in the back of the tank to direct the current a little softer though. Water parameters are pretty ideal. I lowered it to lower level of the tank, we'll see if anything changes for now. A lot less current and light here compared to where it was. This head eats like crazy and is pretty huge. Just waiting for more to grow!

All of my blasto's are rather slow growers
