I don't have a sump (and no immediate plan to add one due to future tank upgrade).

However, I have a phosphate problem, (between .4 and .5 using Hanna checker) likely from old sand that I reused from craigslist.

My immediate, near-term solution is to run GFO in a BRS reactor. My question is this:

Is there any reason I can't attach the reactor to the back of my stand and run the tubing into the display tank? Will the reactor leak at all? Curious to see if anyone else runs a BRS GFO reactor without a sump.

Thanks.

I run a GFO/Carbon reactor from BRS and I don't have a sump. I bought some longer tubing from Lowes and keep the reactor in the stand. Just make sure all the fittings and tubing are tight before you plug in the pump, a few occasions after changing the media I had water everywhere.

If I ever add a sump (DT is only 30 gal) I'll def move the reactor pump to the sump and hide that extra tubing.
