I've got a spare pico lying around, and i was thinking about keeping a tiny mantis in it. Is there a small species of mantis (i don't care if it's spearer or smasher) that i can keep in a pico.

If a pico won't work, what size tank under 10g could i keep a small mantis in?

Take a look at this site, you'll found great info about mantis.;-) http://www.ucmp.berkeley.edu/arthropoda/crustacea/malacostraca/eumalacostraca/royslist/

There is a lot you can easily keep in a 10gal.

Tampabaysaltwater.com has N.wennera for $50 shipped to your door.

Yeah i saw that, but my LFS can get me a smithi or a wennera for cheaper than that.

I bought a 5.5 AGA today; my 4g finnex had to awkward of a footprint for me to work with.

So that means i'll have a build thread soon! I'm pretty stoked to be keeping a mantis

i have my n. wennerae in a 5.5g aga and he loves it. i got it scaped nice and built in the filter with an old powerhead and some acrylic baffles/overflow and i just use filter floss and carbon and a heater. got a mini aqaualight for it and i have zoas and stuff growing in his tank.

you should be fine with the 5.5g i have mine on my computer desktop. fun to watch it box with the snails all day.
